WORKSHOP INTRUCTOR BIOS
BRETE’S BIO
Brete was born and raised in the American Southwest. His family has called the area “home” for 176 years and he descends from a long line of explorers, adventurers, trappers, miners, saddle makers and big game hunters. He’s spent decades of his own exploring the remotest regions of the continental USA. By the time he was nine years old, he could identify 240 species of wild mushrooms indigenous to the area. His favorite outdoor adventures have included archery hunting, backpacking, extreme mountain biking, rafting and some near-fatal encounters on a kayak. 😉
For many years, Brete enjoyed “closet” photography until early 2023 when he decided to up his game and to share the beauty of the American Southwest with the world. He quickly rose in the ranks of SW photographers and is considered by some to be one of the premier photographers/cinematographers of the area. In his first year as a pro, a staggering 30,000,000 people worldwide have seen his imagery. His greatest joy, though, is bringing this beauty to those who cannot get to such rugged areas on their own, be it due to age, distance or finances.
One of his primary “tools of the trade” is Felix the Flying Camera … more commonly known as a drone. Within 10 months of his first flight, he was asked by the Wasatch Camera Club to teach a seminar on drone photography, which received rave reviews from all the participants.
AMPARO’S BIO
Bronx-native Amparo the Photog has been privileged to photograph numerous prestigious events, concerts, and portraits of discerning clients. While Amparo keeps a quite busy calendar photographing celebrations of love, arts, culture, news, and entertainment, she is renowned for her high-touch, upbeat energy that she brings to any photography session.
Amparo was inspired early on by her father’s love of photography. Receiving her first camera at age 8 (a Kodak 110 Film Pocket Camera), Amparo became an avid shutterbug capturing memories growing up in the concrete jungle. In 1995, she bought her first SLR camera and began crafting a keen eye and sharp aesthetic. She began shooting professionally in 2001 while working simultaneously as an executive in Human Resources. With over 20 years of combined experience in photography and HR, Amparo knew it was time to bring her big vision into focus.
In 2021, she launched Photography by Amparo, a boutique studio specializing in portrait and lifestyle photography. Wedding and event photography for premiere clients who value quality and contemporary product offerings takes her around the globe and into many esteemed publications.
