One of the longest and deepest slot canyons on the planet, Buckskin Gulch goes on for miles (about 24 miles if you just do Buckskin Gulch and not Wire Pass) and rarely gets wider than 20 feet. Don’t worry, we only do about the first 5-6 miles of Buckskin to give you a time appropriate experience. Temperatures within the canyon are much cooler than the surrounding sunny Red Rocks. Depending on how far in you go, you will often encounter puddles of water you’ll need to wade through. You would never be able to take in all of it’s incredible depth of beauty in one trip, but you can certainly try! Though it does require a permit, it isn’t a lottery permit, and our team can go and purchase it for you beforehand and then add it to your total cost.

4 mile roundtrip (just to Wire Pass and back) with Buckskin ~8 miles roundtrip (depends on how quickly you want to go through the canyon in time allotted).

Sand, sandstone, flat, shaded, some elevation incline, 15 foot drop in one location you have to try to scramble over (sometimes there is a ladder) OR the guide will take you on an alternate route.
It’s about 10 degrees cooler in the slot canyon so dress appropriately. Bring your own water for hiking.
