How booking works

Custom tours are booked by phone

Because every itinerary is different, Private Custom Tours cannot be booked directly online.

When you call, a member of our team will ask about:

  • The places you want to visit
  • How much time you have
  • The number of people in your group
  • Your preferred date and start time
  • How much walking or hiking you want
  • Any mobility considerations
  • Whether you want one destination or several
  • Any photography or special-interest goals

We’ll help you build a realistic itinerary and provide a custom price before you commit to the tour.

  1. Tell us what you want to see

Choose from our destination list, share a few places you’re considering, or describe the kind of experience you want.

  2. Choose half day or full day

A half-day tour works well for one major destination or a combination of nearby Kanab-area sites.

A full-day tour opens the door to more remote destinations, longer hikes, and multi-stop itineraries.

  3. We build the route

We’ll consider driving time, road conditions, permits, weather, hiking difficulty, and the interests of your group.

  4. Receive your custom quote

Once the itinerary and group requirements are clear, we’ll explain the final price and help you reserve the tour over the phone.

  5. Explore with a local guide

Your guide handles the transportation, off-road driving, navigation, timing, and logistics while your group enjoys the experience.

One destination or a full custom combination

  1. Focus on one remarkable place

Some destinations deserve most or all of the day.

Spend more time exploring, photographing, hiking, and learning about one location without feeling rushed.

  2. Build a multi-stop adventure

Combine nearby destinations into one private itinerary.

You might pair a slot canyon with ancient rock art, dinosaur tracks with a scenic overlook, or several Kanab-area highlights into one full day.

  3. Let us surprise you

    Not sure what to choose?

Tell us about your group, how much time you have, and what kind of scenery or activity interests you. Our local team can recommend an itinerary that fits beforehand or just go out exploring the day of the tour!

If you have another Southern Utah or Northern Arizona location in mind, call and tell us about it. If the destination is within our permitted operating areas and conditions allow, we may be able to build it into your tour.

Tour availability depends on permits, seasonal access, road conditions, weather, vehicle requirements, and total driving time.

Built around your group

Every Private Custom Tour is designed around the people taking it.

We can consider:

  • Your group’s interests
  • Ages and mobility levels
  • Preferred amount of walking
  • Photography goals
  • Historical and geological interests
  • Desired pace
  • Seasonal conditions
  • Sunrise or sunset timing
  • Permit availability
  • Pickup location
  • How much time you have

Whether your group wants an active hiking day, an easy scenic tour, a photography-focused experience, or a little of everything, we’ll help shape the day accordingly.

Why book a Private Custom Tour?

  1. Your group sets the tone

There are no unrelated guests in your vehicle and no need to build the day around another party.

  2. More flexibility

A private format gives your guide more freedom to adjust the pace, timing, stops, and walking based on your group.

  3. Local experience

Our guides know the backroads, changing conditions, and destinations throughout the region.

  4. The complicated parts are handled

We take care of the route, navigation, off-road driving, timing, and logistics.

  5. Go beyond the standard itinerary

Combine destinations or explore places that do not fit neatly into a regularly scheduled tour.

  6. Make the day mean something

Spend your time where your group is most interested instead of rushing through a preset checklist.

The backroads are our backyard

Southern Utah and Northern Arizona contain an incredible number of places that never appear on a standard national park itinerary.

Some require deep-sand driving. Others sit at the end of confusing backcountry roads. Some require permits, careful timing, or an understanding of seasonal conditions.

Our guides have spent years exploring this country.

We’ll help you choose what makes sense, build a realistic route, and reach the places that fit your group best.

Pricing

Private Custom Tours start at $399

The $399 price represents the starting point for a basic private custom experience. It is not a flat price for every itinerary.

Final pricing can increase significantly depending on what you want to do and what is required to make the tour happen.

Your custom quote will be based on:

  • Selected destination or combination of destinations
  • Half-day or full-day duration
  • Total tour time
  • Number of guests
  • Number and type of vehicles required
  • Total driving distance
  • Off-road access requirements
  • Permit requirements
  • Seasonal road conditions
  • Sunrise, sunset, or other special timing requests
  • Additional guides or equipment needed

A simple half-day tour for a smaller party may begin near the starting price. A full-day, multi-destination tour for a larger group requiring multiple vehicles will cost substantially more.

Because there are so many possible combinations, all Private Custom Tours must be planned and priced over the phone with our team.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tour always private?

Yes. The vehicle and guide are reserved exclusively for your party.

Can I book a Private Custom Tour online?

No. Every Private Custom Tour must be booked over the phone.

There are too many possible combinations of destinations, timing, group size, and vehicle requirements to price these tours accurately through a standard online booking form.

A member of our team will help you choose the itinerary, confirm what is possible, and provide the price.

How much does a Private Custom Tour cost?

Private Custom Tours start at $399, but every tour is priced individually.

The final price depends on the destinations, tour length, group size, pickup location, driving distance, road conditions, vehicle requirements, and number of vehicles needed.

A shorter tour for a small party may be close to the starting price. A full-day or multi-destination itinerary for a larger group can cost significantly more.

Call our team to discuss your plans and receive a custom quote before booking.

Do I have to know exactly where I want to go before calling?

No. You can call with a complete wish list or simply tell us what kind of experience you want.

Our team can recommend destinations and combinations based on your schedule, group size, interests, preferred activity level, and budget.

Can we choose more than one destination?

Yes. We can combine multiple compatible destinations when driving time, conditions, permits, and the chosen tour length allow.

Can you design the itinerary for us?

Absolutely. Tell us how much time you have, who is traveling, and what kind of experience interests you. We’ll recommend a route that fits.

What is the difference between a half-day and full-day tour?

Half-day tours work best for one Kanab-area destination or two nearby sites.

Full-day tours allow us to reach more remote locations, combine additional destinations, or spend more time hiking and exploring.

Can we visit The Wave?

Yes, if everyone participating has a valid Coyote Buttes North permit for the selected date. The tour does not include or guarantee a permit.

Can we visit Coyote Buttes South?

Yes, with the appropriate permit. Call us with your permit information and desired date.

Can we request a location that isn’t listed?

Yes. Tell us where you would like to go. If the destination is within our permitted operating areas and conditions allow, we may be able to create a tour around it.

Can the tour be adapted for children or older guests?

In many cases, yes. Because the tour is private, we can recommend destinations and a pace that better fit your group’s needs.

Please tell us about any mobility concerns when you call.

What kind of vehicle will we use?

Vehicle selection depends on the itinerary and group size. Tours generally use a capable off-road SUV or 4×4 vehicle suitable for the selected route.

Larger parties may require multiple vehicles, which will affect the final price.

Do you provide hotel or vacation-rental pickup?

Pickup options depend on your location and itinerary. Include your lodging location when calling, and we’ll let you know what is available.

What should we bring?

What you need will depend on the season, duration, and destination.

In general, wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and comfortable outdoor clothing. Bring sun protection, a camera or phone, required medications, and layers appropriate for changing weather.

We’ll provide destination-specific instructions before your tour.
